“As we do a lot of business with local municipalities, we tend to see more business for people running for public service. During Presidential election years, we will see additional business for State and National contests, but in general the everyday smalltown government is bigger for us.”
ANN MARIE BAKER, AAKRON RULE (ASI/30270), RESPONDING TO WHETHER THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WILL INCREASE INDUSTRY BUSINESS
“The election results will provide much-needed clarity to markets. There is a relationship between uncertainty and weak economic growth. The clarity to come from the election will help the economy if for no other reason than it will prompt action because of a defined market context (growth, taxes, regulations).”
BONNI SHEVIN-SANDY, DARD PRODUCTS (ASI/48500), IN RESPONSE TO NEWS ARTICLES ABOUT THE UPCOMING PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
“You guys nailed it. This was the best ASI Radio episode yet, with a good variety of topics and products. I was even taking notes during the broadcast. Using video online was something I’ve considered for some time, but you have made up my mind: I want to use it.”

How do you motivate employees without breaking the bank?
.Jennifer Valanski Moyer When employers take the time to praise employees and show they are impressed by their performance, it is very motivating. Be engaged with your staff in a positive way and it will spread a good vibe.
.Darwin Staker In our organization, we provide breakfast each Friday morning – it usually costs $20 to $40. We also offer gift cards to employees who complete time-sensitive projects. I believe it motivates them to go above and beyond with a small investment to the company. Our return on investment is off the charts.
.Judi Brown We work in both the awards industry and the promotional products industry. We see adults all the time who are thrilled to receive very simple symbols of recognition – certificates, small trophies, plaques or custom gifts presented as awards.
.Richard Golden Suggestion ... Tell them that if they give you 110% every day, you will do whatever you can to help them achieve their dreams.
.@PromosCanada Happy Thursday. It’s so sunny here - how about where you are? Kinda wish I worked outside...
.@SESA827 @HulkHogan Can I have an RT for my birthday? Thanks!
.@run72 I crushed an 8.3 km run with Nike+ SportWatch GPS. #nikeplus #makeitcount
.@SpringPromos Springing into the social media action! Look out for a new and improved Springboard #newbeginnings

“4imprint and my current company MARCO, another direct marketer of promotional items, are great at helping customers develop promotional strategies. And they are not alone. All good direct marketers do this … we just don’t do it face-to-face. The only comment I’d make about Kevin’s selection as Person of the Year is: ‘Why did it take so long?’”
DICK NELSON, FOUNDER OF 4IMPRINT AND CURRENT CEO OF MARCO, IN RESPONSE TO A LETTER IN THE JULY ISSUE QUESTIONING THE SELECTION OF 4IMPRINT’S KEVIN LYONS-TARR AS COUNSELOR’S PERSON OF THE YEAR
“Why not turn something bad into something good? Why not have a campaign to recycle all these bags and make something that may benefit others – inexpensive clothing, hats, mats, for example. All we need are creative companies that will take the first step.”
BOB MILLER, INTEGRA BUSINESS FORMS & SYSTEMS (ASI/231491), RESPONDING TO THE JUNE ISSUE FEATURE STORY QUESTIONING THE FUTURE OF PLASTIC BAGS
“I have often wondered about the plastic bags, mainly blowing in the wind, in neighborhoods, in business districts, and most recently, at the NHRA Run here in Topeka, KS. Bags were practically covering a fence at the event. My thought at the time was, ‘How long before someone passes a law against plastic bags?’ Don’t get me wrong – we do use plastic bags, mostly for small orders. But I guess we will just have to wait and see.”
